Photographer's Note
I tried lightening up the face and surrounding area a bit based on Bob's suggestion. I'm not very good at doing selections so this was hard to do. I feathered the selection 3 pixels before applying a Curves adjustment.

Im not sure how you did it, but i like the photo much better now that you can see the womans face a bit more.

I like this version a lot more. The person in the boat comes out and becomes part of the picture.
I took this version to PhotoShop (I'm just learning to use PS Elements) and couldn't get any more detail out. It would be interesting to see if someone with developed editing skills could retrieve more. I did find that a bit of sharpening improved the flowers and hat detail to my eye.

This is a definite improvement. Unfortunately, it looks like there just isn't much shadow detail there to work with, and it would be better to be able to see her fully. Otherwise good shot.
