‘ Wat Tham Sua - Statues and decorations’

A bit to my surprise I read the comments that the site of Wat Tham Sua looks a bit like a kind of Thai Disneyland. It didn't feel at all like that during my visit.

Malgo asked if this is actually a religious site. It sure is.
I now realize that I didn't show that enough in my pictures. Perhaps the photo in the WS 1 with the large Buddha statue emphasizes it a little more.
I also took pictures inside the temples. But their quality is insufficient to show here.

Possibly I also may have been overwhelmed on the spot by the beauty and colours of the architecture and the statues that I paid too little attention to the religious aspect when taking my photos.

The temples of Wat Tham Sua are clearly of a very different kind than the ones of Ayutthaya of which I showed some pictures a few weeks ago. In Ayutthaya it concerns ruins of ancient temples while Wat Tham Sua was actually built quite recently. For instance the large Buddha here, named Chin Prathanporn, was built in 1973.

I also like to mention that Loong made an interesting comment on the animal statues in my previous photo. Perhaps the intention of the founders was to entertain the visitors' children during their temple visit.
