Photographer's Note
I think I am shooting so many beautiful things. Today, I went back to the pictures that started me as dSLR person, that one trip in Nan, Thailand when I borrowed my brother's Nikon D100 (and because of such an experience, I bought my own D70).
Nan...I still believe that that one trip created a big impact to me. Not only did I re-discover photography BUT it also opened my eyes to the reality of the H'mongs, a minority group from Myanmar who fled to Thailand. It was a community service and my series of photographs of the children there allowed me to raise some funds that I donated to them. Vic, here in TE, for example, donated 100 US and there were many others.
Anyway, I am planning to open up a gallery in pbasefor some of my best pictures in Nan, in monochorome. I will post some shots there in a little while. Here's the link:

A very powerful shot, and as you say, rather a less beatiful scene than your usual. These H'mong children really seem quite sad, in great contrast to the impression I got from the rather remote hill tribe that I visited in April.

Wow, Manuel! This is no "cute" picture, but a powerful, extremely closely composed photograph with great power. This is close to some of the best War phots I saw from Vietnam; there is an immediacy in your work here, a closeness that is heartbreaking. Bravo! Francis

Hi Manny
A beautiful portrait, even if the subjects do look so sad! The tones and luminosity are excellent.

Hello Manuel, so you're back in Asia now. I hope you enjoyed Europe and will return some day in the future (don't forget to pay a visit to the Netherlands!).
You've posted a very intense picture this time. The two main characters in your picture look so sad that we can almost feel their sorrow. Just the third kid in the background seems to be okay, which enlightens the emotions a little. Very impressive work.

Hello Manny
a strong picture .... these children look so sad, what a deep glance. The young boy seems to be curious and happier, that gives a little hope to the scene.
Beautiful portrait, thanks for sharing

Hi Manny,
A very touching picture. The eyes of the little girl speaks volumes and along with the crying baby, the picture touches my heart. The monochrome adds a documentary feel to the picture.
A very emotion evoking photograph
thanks for sharing

Manny, I have to say that this is one of the saddest pics that I have ever seen. You should do more b&W portraits. Colored pics are great but b&w really brings out the emotion in your protraits.

Hi Manuel
They don't look very happy, do they? I like the subtle inclusion, of the third child, on the right. An excellent tri-portrait, with a good tonal range. Well done!

Hey Manuel,
Many thoughts came into my mind when I saw this photo. I see no point in spending billions of dollars on war, so much money spent to kill thousands of innocent people. Freeing a nation doesn't have to go this far. Why not spend it for medical research & helping the poor. Why does corruption exist? I wish contentment & peace for all.
