Still in Thailand, but the start of a new series, on the fishing industry in Hua Hin.

Although Hau Hin is best know as a seaside resort on the Gulf of Thailand, and has a number of high rise hotels scattered along the bay, the traditional fishing industry, which used to be the towns main activity, is still thriving.

Numerous small one-man operated boats leave from the bay each morning, as well as a very busy fishing quay which sees larger boats unloading sometimes earlyin the morning after a nightime of fishing.

Here a sole operator prepares his boat at sunrise, as another returns in the background.

Beautiful morning atmosphere in this one, Richard, and a fine use of the boat silhouette as a foreground interest. Excellent to have some more boats gradually staggering towards the background. Great colors, subtle yet vivid. This would make a cool poster-sized wallhanger, I guess.

What to say? This image is really amazing!! Congratulations.
The colour of the sun, with the warm reflections in the water create a very particular and quiet atmosphere.
I also like the dark silhouettes of the boats, in contrast with the light of the rising sun.

such a romanic mood youve set here. The colors are great and so is the scene. Im not 100% sold on the position of the man. Id like to see him elsewhere oin the boat where his body outline would be much more discernable.

Lovely shot, Richard, with this one patch of orange sky and its reflection on the water, nice graphic silhouettes of the boats, and the peaceful early morning mood. I think you made the right decision to post this version - composition is much more appealing.

what a nice shot!! I like everuthing, light, colours, sharpness, but what I like most are people preparing to work, their silhouettes are so nice in the scene, not the more important element but the meaning of the picture in my opinion

Toop mood this morning compo from the marine landscape. Good inclusion of the boat and not least the fisherman in the aft.
Sharpness and aother details adds up to a very well made compo.

Hi Richard, I have been missing too many good shots from you, first there was the excellent series of the train, (you know I like trains), and now these low-light seaside ones.
I love the light coming in from the right, the boats so dark and nicely placed in the frame, and the ripples on the water.
I will check your latest photo's a bit better.
Hope, you're doing well, sometimes think about you and work.
Me and work is a lousy combination at the moment....

I, as an early bird, also have watched them every morning in front of our beach-hut ... I love to watch the daily life. The fishermen at Samui lived on these tiny boats and only went (I guess) home on Sunday.

Probably the most striking picture I find today in TE. A wonderfully composed striking sunset, ( As I like them ) with the profile of a moving local boat caught at the best place and balanced with the setting sun -
