Photographer's Note

Prompt home delivery service somewhere along a small alley in Cholon, Saigon District 5. Stacked thermos flasks fastened on his back! I think he would have to stop somewhere to rebalance the machine, maybe.
In fact I have seen many more interesting heavy & bulky household items overloaded on this kind of small motorbikes such as fridges, washing machines, cases of beer and many more beyond imagination etc, etc. I thought I'd share this lack of quality photo, as many people would not believe the crazy extent to which motorbikes are used or 'abused' in Vietnam. It is amazing what one can see here without Health & Safety!

If I remember correctly many years & moons ago, Kata Camera Bags had a funny advert campaign leaflet with pictures; one had a man on a small motorbike carrying at least 50 x 20 litre big plastic containers with the following script:

"this picture explains why US lost the war in Vietnam. Tell a GI Joe to deliver 1000 litres of water on a bike and he'd tell you you're mad. The Viet Cong would tell you: "where to?"
