Photographer's Note
Here's a shot from North Vietnam, Hanoi's Old Quarter with a millennium-long history and represents the eternal soul of the city, city of Absorbing Sights and Sounds...
The Old Quarter is perhaps the most picturesque and characteristic part of Hanoi. Life goes on at a slow and leisurely pace, with the Hanoians tucking into pho (noodles) or com (rice) at a roadside foodstall or having a haircut at the street corner while motorcycles and cars zip pass. One of the great pleasures here is simply wandering the streets, risking life and limb trying to cross the narrow streets with hundreds of bicycles, motorcycles, occasional vehicle as well as being poisoned by the fumes! It has a certain charm,
This was taken somewhere in the small quiet calm street almost crumbling part of the old quarter, but I love what I saw. The walls which are generally very old and almost every bare wall are stenciled with phone numbers and, It's kind of illegal advertising!!
Old Quarters - but rich in cultures

Ciao Abmdsudi
questa volta hai trovbato un soggetto del tutto originale e, come di consueto ne hai fatto una composizione efficace sia nei contenuti che per il contrasto di colori.
Eccellenti - al solito - colori, contrasto e nitidezza.
Complimenti
Ciao e buon fine settimana.

Hello Abmdsudi,
Very picturesque shot, the phone numbers from various colours form a special mood and the person on the right looks great with his yellow clothes and his turquoise cycle. Great saturation and contrasts, we can see much detailed texture in the wall.

Hello Abmdsudi
Very Vietnamese, these phone number graffiti, advertizing for (de)construction work. The inclusion of the number 10 is a bit funny here. The fish/duck catcher and the yellow pyjamas add even more couleur locale.
Great picture.

Bonjour Abmdsudi
J'aime beaucoup ce genre de composition.Il nous creuse les méninges.Il faut croire que les graffitis chez vous sont plus cartésiens que chez nous. L'homme en jaune balance bien l'image.
Bon samedi

hi Abmdsudi
It may be illegal advertising, but all of these numbers painted like this create a very abstract work of art! Its nice that everybody has gone to the effort to create the stencils, and each has its own flourish as well showing the individuality. interesting sight, and a cool post!
All the best

Hello Abmdsudi,
The figures, letters and faded colours of the wall create a kind of street art. The yellow man and his green bike seen against a dark background provide a fine complement to the wall and I also like the broken cage. You have made a fine composition out of basically nothing, just typical details of an ordinary street in Hanoi.
Kind regards,
Gert

Pozdrav.
Interesantan tekst o staroj cetvrti sa opisom ...
Dobar trenutak snimka i kontrast, lepo pokazana fasada sa brojevima i covek sa biciklom koji odlazi, lepe boje.
Interesantna fasada.
Sve najbolje.
Paja.
Greetings.
An interesting article on the old quarter with a description ...
Good time recording and contrast nicely with the numbers shown facade and a man with a bike that goes, pretty colors.
Interesting facade.
All the best.

Hi Abmdsudi
J'aime l'originalité que donne ces inscriptions sur le vieux mur, la personne tout en jaune attire et donne une touche de couleur sur le fond sombre, belle réalisation
Belle soirée

Hi Abmdsudi,
As I can see I missed many of your excellent photos during my TE absence, but don't worry I'll caught up fast.
Excellent close up photo with many interesting details. This is a bad habit to misuse the street walls for cheap advertisement, can see in many countries across Asia. You have well included the empty chicken cage and the man in yellow dress, adding nice contrast to the scene.
Very well done.
Greetings,
Miro

Hello Abmdsudi
This wall with the strange graffiti is quite eye catching indeed. It is an ingenious way to circumnavigate the interdiction of advertisement. And the yellow fellow with his bike is a great focal point.
Great note about the old city of Hanoi, good to know if ever one makes it there once.
have a great day

Hello Abmdsudi,
I like street scenes, and this one is very interesting. The texture of the wall, together with all of the colorful writing, is very nice. Then you have the person in yellow clothes looking around the corner, and that old basket beside the wall. Everything blends together perfectly to create an intriguing photo.

Hi Abmdsudi,
You're capturng well this daily life by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the scribble of the printing number and character on a wall, although I don't understand its meaning. It's also interesting big bamboo basket at left under. And, the woman who stores a bicycle draws out a good impact. Ordinary good daily life shot in Vietnam.
Kind regards,
mikio

Good representation of a street culture, this maybe taken in Hanoi but it can represent any street in the world. And just like anywhere in the world graffiti dominate. I'm glad you were able to include this person to add human element. Good lighting and nice details. Well done, tfs.

Hello Abmdsudi,
Yes, wandering the streets and taking photos of anything and everything is a great pleasure for me. During my recent trip to Istanbul, I found out that it is best done alone or with a kindred photographer, otherwise you're always playing catch-up or boring your companion. Frankly, it is these photos of hidden corners that excite me more than those of tourist traps whose other thousands of photos can be seen on the web. A very attractive catch rendered most delightfully.

MT

Hello Ambdsudi,
old quarters of towns are always the most interesting, with sites, sounds, textures and colours to please and delight. Here is a good example. Well composed with the rib -like frame of a fishing pot? And you have found a representative bicycle too.
Nicely seen.

Hello Abmdsudi,
This is a very original picture from this amazing old Quarter of Hanoi. The crumbling wall with the phone numbers is interesting and the man with his bike disappearing into the blackness adds even more intrigue to the shot. How good that he is wearing yellow and has a bike with bright green and silver metallic trim
Excellent!

Hello Abmdsudi,
a very fine composition with the man pushing his bike into a dark passage next to an old wall. I like very much the graphism of the colourful stencils, they are very attractive but still as mysterious to me as the dark passage. You have managed the colours in a very apt way, they look both natural and atmospheric. This picture looks like a riddle and the viewer is enticed to study and combine all the details included to get an insight of daily life in this old quarter. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
Ourania
