Photographer's Note

In the heart of the Caribbean Ocean, Cuba throbs with colours, smells, rhythms and energy, befitting the turbulence of a tropical storm. Its capital, Havana, is the biggest city in the Caribbean -- a sophisticated, dynamic and bustling metropolis. With a population of over 2 million, and an integral Afro/Cuban culture, the very air vibrates with energy, creativity and the sounds of salsa music.

This shot is from the north side of Havana Harbour toward the old town. Shooting directly into the sun emphasized the streaks of light coming from behind the clouds (what I call "fingers of God"). I can’t remember the settings, but from the octagonal specular light it looks like a small aperture, maybe F16 or smaller. I increased the magenta in colour balance to give it that old, smokey, sepia look.
