Photographer's Note

This unnamed waterfall is within Finca El Duraznal, near Esquipulas in the Trifinio (El Salvador/Honduras/Guatemala) region. To get there, one must take dirt roads from Esquipulas for abot 11 km to the entrance of the finca, and then walk about 1 km, the last half of which is in the middle of the forest with no trails or paths (machete needed to cut through the foilage).

The waterfall is about 14 m high and is the second in a series. The first one is really difficult to get to (I didn't get to go) but I was told it's over 25 m high. It is estimated that a total of about 5 people visit this waterfall annually. Really!

The finca (farm) takes its name from a small village nearby, and it means "Place of apricots". Ironically what grows on the farm is coffee which is amazing! It is usually exported to Italy.
