In the street, a photo from Chimaltenango, South

Photographer's Note

Another picture from my deep archive. I am not sure where this photo was taken, probably in Chichicastenango. Just the street scene. What a pity that in 2001 I had no digital camera. I have only very few pictures of rather poor quality. I used a video camera at that time. And I saw such amazing landscapes, many volcanos, lakes, ruins, people. Guatemala Antigua is one of the loveliest cities I have ever been.
In Workshop a picture of Pacaya volcano. I climbed to the top of the crater, the volcano is all the time active and in the evening the red glow can be seen. Pacaya rises to an elevation of 2,552 metres After being dormant for over 70 years, it began erupting vigorously in 1961 and has been erupting frequently since then. I have heard that later such a trip was dangerous, the tourists were robbed and even killed.

The next day I missed my plane from Guatemala City to Warsaw. The return home was the craziest up to my adventure in March this year.

Hello Malgo,
Maybe not the best quality but quite okay considering it's a scanned piece of a video. Some areas are a bit overexposed but the colours of the vegetables and the saleslady are nice and strong. There is quite a lot to watch along the street as well. Impressive view of the volcano in the WS.

I think you need to check the cyan colour cast and some areas appear to be over exposed on my screen which ruin the image! Anyway it's a lively street shot.

Hello Malgo,

This is a very colourful scene, the vegetable stall and the lady vendor filling the f/g with interest.
The angled view leads nicely into the b/g.

But, I have to agree with Abmdsudi, the quality of the shot is not your best. The size of the photograph is very small which could have affected the clarity when posting it.

You are the person I refer to when thinking of an intrepid explorer!!

Hello Malgo,
Really great that you climbed Pacaya Volcano and that in 2001!
As early as the 1990s, other travelers told me that tourists were robbed, raped and/or murdered when climbing the volcanoes in Guatemala.
Nice combination of different professions on your main photo: the pharmacy with a fruit stall and a clothing store right outside its door.

Ciao Malgo,2 rare pics from this place of Guatemala not often seen on TE. The quality isn't the best but no problem,the digital camera were very rare in 2001 and very expensive. So,it's a good view of this part of market,and the perspective with the people walking to the volcano is great because a special light on the group going to. I can't imagine what happens during your trip coming back at home..ehehe..have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hello, the picture shows the street atmosphere in that city in Guatemala. That vendor offers tomatoes, lemon, red chilies, a kind of peas and leeks i think. Clothes are sold in the stall behind her. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

despite the poor camera the image is fantastic. I liked the colorful products and the vendor putting a tie in the vegetables. nice view.
some decades ago there was few dangerous places in the globe, nowadays violence is present in many..
