Photographer's Note
There are people and places that I'll never forget in this country and this city is surely one of them. I had read about Leon and I was too curious about it. It was my first destination when I arrived to Managua and I wasn't disappointed at all. I found a university city full of character, the city of revolution, which seems to insist on keeping its authenticity and refuses to sell its soul to Tourism. Visitors are far less than in Granada and it's surely the right place to feel the real Nicaragua. It was quite a feeling to reach the top of the cathedral and enjoy the view over the city, to find the tomb of the poet Ruben Dario in its interior or simple strolling around the streets and squares where people and children gather by the end of the day chating and eating raspados. When the evening comes, the boys also come and gather to perform "La Gigantona y El Enano Cabezón" in the main square.
There are not lots of people trying to sell souvenirs or excursions. And even the famous beach Las Peñitas, is mainly for locals and can be reached by Chicken Bus, where you'll probably find out you're the only tourist, amongst the many locals who use it to go to the market. But believe me, I'd gladly return.
What we can see it is one of the many revolutionary murals that we can find in the city.

Hello Ana,
This wall painting is not "nice", but it is extremely eye-catching with its bright and partly disturbing details. The wall makes a perfect background to the three bikers standing on line. I love the connection between their crash helmets and the gas masks in the painting. It's a beautiful coincidence and shows your talent for this kind of photography.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Ana
a well written note indeed. the note will stick in my mind when I think about this Country as a destination, I'll have to remember this.
love the 2 doors, that color shines through so well, and of course the mural is the main attraction here. good timing to have the bike riders heads infront of the door and NOT the mural as they don't interfere with it. cool post
cheers

Bonjour Ana,
On dirait bien que c'est le moment de faire la course.J'aime la prise ultra rapide qui gèle bien le mouvement. C'est surtout l'arrière plan qui donne de la valeur à l'ensemble.
Amicalement

Hi Ola dear Ana
Very eye-catching image at all. Very presicely writtedn wall paintings are so impressive to see in several points. Rider's helmets seem to be some duplication with painting, great effect.
All the best and have a good day! Takero

hello Ana,
Beautiful composition from Nicaragua. The mural itself is very interesting and artistic, but the effect here enhanced by these three motor bikers in helmets. well seen. Superb shot.

Hello Ana,
What an interesting and colorful scene. You froze the bikers at just the right spot, and their helmets correspond with the helmets on those creepy gas-mask figures. Very nice presentation.

Hello Anabela,
Nice to read that you liked Leon. I'd like to return to Nicaragua one day and Leon would sure be on my itinerary this time. The strong point of your pleasant photo is likely the similarity between the bikers helmets and those on the mural, although I don't see exactly the meaning it may have! You also posted a couple of nice shots from Ometepe from interesting places I didn't know. I even looked on Google Earth to see where is that Punta Jesus Maria located. Not so many photos from Central America on TE.
Best wishes for 2017,
Claude

Hello Ana
This would be an impressive image if it were just of the street and the elegantly-muralled wall; but you waited for something else to happen, and it couldn't have been better: three helmetted motor-cyclists, beautifully echoing the graffiti-figures. Wonderful. Happy New Year.

Will

Hello Ana,
Traveling by Chicken Bus, very funny!
The picture is taken on the right moment with the motorbikers in front of the door, right between the wall paintings.
Excellent clear and sharp shot.
Best regards, Paul
