At the market..., a photo from Masaya, South

Photographer's Note

Masay is an important place to visit but most people go there to see the beautiful Laguna d'Apoyo, the Masaya Volcano or the market, to see the handicrafts, once this region is very famous for that.
It happens that Masaya has two markets, the local one, that is huge and where you can find almost everything - surely the best place to feel the real Nica and then you have another one, especially for tourists, where you can find handicrafts and tourists shopping.
I took this photo at the first one. It was really busy on that day, because people were alrady shopping for Christmas.

thanks for this cultural shot, nice to see the more authentic market compared to the touristy one.

large baskets of fruit, dirty old containers, scrappy looking dog napping, friendly locals...what more could you want :)

Hello Ana,
A very nice "nothing special" photo. Ordinary people at an ordinary market, fine colours and a relaxed atmosphere. Just what I like. And the dog looks like it was lifting its leg even in sleep. I wonder what it was dreaming of?

A simple street market scene that shows the daily live of people in Nicaragua. Quite a size these melons are indeed. The people seem to be unaware of you or your camera as they appear really relaxed in this scene.
