Photographer's Note

The Pedro Miguel Locks is the middle set of three sets in the Panama Canal. Looking down from our cruise ship, we can see the control tower, where the operation of the locks is handled. We can see also that the right lane gates are closed, and the level of the water beyond is several meters higher than the level in the lock. A freighter has just left the locks and is moving away ahead of us. The gate has closed, and the water being lowered in advance of the next ship going from Pacific to Caribbean.
