Church of the Assumption, a photo from Lower Austria, East

Photographer's Note

In the center of the town is the Gothic fortified church of the Assumption. A covered flight of steps leads up to the Gothic fortified church of the Assumption, surrounded by a defensive wall and towers. In the square in front of the church stands an 18th C. statue of St John Nepomuk.
Weissenkirchen has a population of around 1800 and is said to be one the prettiest of all the Wachau vine-growing villages, with old houses and courtyards.
This was one of the many beautiful villages in Austria and Germany that we sailed past on our Viking River Cruise.

This is a nice vision on this village. The light is perfect on the church. It could be more perfect if the cropping put the church not on the center. However, it's well done

A wonderful church . I like a lot the contrasts of colors , with the orange roofs on the dark green hills . And the church tower in the middle of the W of the mountains is a good thing .
May be the part in the low left corner is les interesting .

the contrast of the colors is strong and puts forward this superb church. It is well seen at the time when the light lights the scene by leaving the remainder in the shade. Perfect clearness.

nice fortified church standing out from the hilly landscape thanks to its shapes and colors, the view is too centered, I see you wanted to avoid an unpleasant area on the left and for that reason I find th square crop proposed by Francois a better alternative.

The well lit church really stands out in the middle of the village!
I see a lovely composition, where the red roofs contrast so well with the fresh green in trees and fields...

a fine town Asa,
the photo is well taken, for the composition I would crop the left sideof til the tree and the right side a little, ofcoarse this is personal but I think you get a better composition then, farter very nice photojob, thanks for sharing.

It looks like a very pleasant place and the architecture of the church is beautiful. I had a look at the WSs and I like the one of jhm, who has de-centred the church in the frame and kept the rectangular format which I prefer to the square of the other one.

interesting photo! very nice landscape. The colours look natural and are pleasant for the eyes :) Good combination of green and red. It's also nice to see the trees in front of the church.
As for the composition, I'd crop the left part of the photo a bit.. right next to the tree.. (almost like the WS variant - #2)

Hi Asa,

The point of view leads our eyes toward the church and the mountains which is giving depth to the picture. The church is well frame by the houses and by the mountains in the background. The light is giving a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.

This is like a picture postcard!
The colours and the details of the little town are engaging.
Normally we would say, do not centralise the focal point but, in this case, I feel it works well. There is enough going on in the l/h corner to balance the rest.

Very nice church with these large roof panels, and the little tower on the right. It makes a good combination of colors with the surrounding green.
