Photographer's Note
Last year I posted 2 pictures of the carnaval with the gilles. Now, you have to know that the gilles are not dancing only during the carnaval. In my town, there are also 2 other saturdays before the carnaval where they are dancing with their music in the street. Yesterday was the first one and the event is called "soumonces en batterie". As you can see, their clothes are not the same than the gilles costum but there is already the "apertintaille" (girdles with the small bells) and the "ramon" (the blured stick).
In 2 weeks, it will be the "soumonces générales"... To be continued...

Oh - great series of carneval photoes - I believe to have seen something like this in Tintin comix albums. I like the motion blur and smile on his face - thanks Fred for taking us here - fine works indeed.

Salute,
John

nice shot Fred!
I thought it was a celebration, but I did not expect it was related to carnival(or pre carnival).
Nice costumes they are wearing a little different than what we have downsouth (please take a look at my last posting to verify this).

Good shot from the carnival procession, Fred. The costumes of the folks make a colorful repetitive element, and the motion blur is a fun add. Well done. I think Claude's WS enhances it nicely.

Bonjour Fred
A good daily life shot & an excellent explanatory note. I like the blur of the baton, which suggests movement & vitality. C'est tres bon!

Interesting notes and shot Fred of this blue dressed guys under the festival. The blurred motion of the hand is here a good detail I think.

Nice picture.
I know carneval from (Dutch) Brabant, but people just wear all kinds of thing. Well there are special costums, but one the people who walks in the procession wear it. And we don't start to saturdays before...
About the picture: i like the repetetion of shapes and colours. I also like the natural way of behaving of the people... because the didn't notice that you took this picture (and then you get the best pictures).

Bonjour Fred,
