Photographer's Note
Description: This monastery was born of an act of gratitude: Mathilda was a widow and her weddin-gring had accidentally fallen into the fountain. She prayed to the Lord and at once a trout rose to the surface with the precious ring in its mouth. Mathilda exclaimed : 'Truly this place is a Val d'Or'! " In gratitude, she decided to establish a monastery on the site..

Technical aspects: It takes a beer or two to find a nice view on the main tower while you can still see the old ruins. I finally found a spot where you still can see the fine architecture of the old church and in the background the maintower part of an used area.
Postprocessing: PhotoShop, rotated until strait, finaly some L, CB and a bit USM.
Conditions: cloudy day, lightspot on the tower
My Goal: The place has its own brewery, they do have a very nice beer there. Whoefff...
Catch a steady and nice view on old and new.
Cheers!

Very good layered and framed picture, but I miss the top of the framing arc. Warm colours are very good, too.

Very well framed. The lighting offers a special glow to the architecture against this cloudy day. Textures from the foreground through to the tower are all well captured. There's also this very good zig-zag path into the image. I like this crop, too, at the top. To me it seems well placed, higher and it may have seemed awkward. It's very attractive and warm. Very well seen and photographed.

Hi Richard, I like this composition and framing using the arch very much, also the colors are well saturated and look great despite the dull weather. Thanks also for your advices on PP, I have to try them with the Xmas beer we can get these days ;-))

Nice frame within the frame. You got good perspective with the 3 layers of the gate, ruins and tower. The colors have rich worm tones with the sharpness the textures on the stones is seen well. Good capture!

Nice with the arc as a frame, nice architecture in even "old" colours.
I like the pic without disturbing people, Richard, nice done !

Cheers... and of course, the beer is the main goal for this visit but you must take the picture before drinking...;) Here, I think it was the case because the composition is perfect! Bravo!

Amicalement/jr
