Photographer's Note
Eupen is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Liège, 15 km from the German border (Aachen), from the Dutch border (Maastricht) and from the nature reservation "High Fens" (Ardennes). The town is also the capital of the Euroregion Meuse-Rhine.
On 1 January 2006 Eupen had a total population of 18,248 (8,892 males and 9,356 females). The total area is 103.74 km² which gives a population density of 175.90 inhabitants per km².
After the end of the First World War, the Treaty of Versailles placed Eupen and the neighboring municipality of Malmedy from 1920 to 1925 under Belgian administration, in the form of the Gouvernement Eupen-Malmedy under General Herman Baltia. The region was eventually subject to a plebiscite to determine whether the region would be permanently separated from Germany and annexed to Belgium. However, the vote was not secret, since the ballots required the name and postal address of each voter. Fearing expulsion if they voted for Germany, the populations of Eupen and Malmedy voted to join Belgium.[citation needed]

Hello John,
I like the point of view and the inclusion of the people sat outside the cafe; the hedge makes an interesting and unusual lead line towards the church. Good light and colours. Interesting note, which has stirred up memories of school history lessons.

The inclusion of the little pavement café in the foreground works well in the composition. I also like the sunlit branches in the top corner. The architecture of the church seems Eastern European.

Hello John,
A good upward pov on the twin spires, in this superb daily life scene, with the informal fg nicely contrasting against the more formal bg. Good colour & sharpness. Tfs!

Hello John,
This one is also nice, very relaxing atmpshere with the people in the restaurant enjoying themselves. the vertical is perfect to accentuate the height of the church. the leave gives it a nice spring and cheerful feeling to the image.

Hello John.
Religiousness and leisure, it seems to represent the capture with the haughty church and the incorporation of the terrace of the café in the corner, I like the composition, in spite of having the church average in cross-light, have remained illuminated well.
Regards and good weekend.
Luis.

Hello John,
The church stands out well with the special looking twin towers!
The subject is well framed, wise to include some people and the varied light adds life...
A balanced composition with good details!
Greetings,
Pablo -
