Photographer's Note
Description: Near the French border there's a small town called Arlon. A few things to see but a rather big church is worth a visit. The church is only 100 years old and has very nice details wich give you the opportunity to capture the various plays of light. When we were there nobody else was so we could take our photos, totally undisturbed. Best of Arlon is the surrounding countryside and the various types of food and beer. Top reason for a very pleasant (plesant- belgium language translation) vacation.

Technical aspects: With my back against the main entrance. Exactly in the middle.
Postprocessing: PhotoShop, rotated and scewed until strait, finaly some L, CB and a bit USM.
Conditions: bright but cloudy day
My Goal: Capture the various lights, colors and shades in a typical church architecture.
You don't have to be religious to go and see a local church, we think they can be very nice objects to see and take photos of.
We think you can believe that!
Update: I included the original photo in a WS to show the work done in postprocessing

Great picture of that church I don't know, Richard. The symetry is perfect and the exposition of the colours is nice...
Now, maybe there is few to see in the town of Arlon but the countryside around is wonderful...

Your composition is very efficient Richard. I particularly appreciate the atmosphere in this church and the light. You have rendered the light very well.
It works perfectly for me.

The light is very well captured, you managed to get out a lot of detail from the interior without over exposure of the windows. The light is very soft and the picture has a tranquil atmosphere.

Wow, excellent work in capturing this wonderful quality of the church and then post processing also. The textures and lighting of the stone is beautiful and the stained glass is also captured perfectly. The central point of view adds to the monumental approach up the center of the nave. All the chairs appear so neatly ordered. Certainly a calm and pensive place and a very nice revival style. Excellent job.

Richard, In general I am not a big fan of church shots, but for this one I must take off my hat! Excellent capture! Very good work on the PP. The colors are just right and the glass work is beautiful.
The only suggestion about this shot is to enlarge the crop a bit. The top middle has an interesting arch and currently it is cut.

There is a lot of detail and the picture is very shaprp so all that detail is very visible. I like the symmetry and balance of the picture. There are slo no streaks of light distracting me while viewing this. Its a first rate photo. Great job.

You have obtain a very good light to the whole scene. Perfect simetry. I can imagine you back up against the central door, thinking why they are not more behind. The colours are very clean and the depth is perfect. I like the light in the perfect center of the image that comes from the rose window.
I also like to take this kind of shot, but never with this result!.
Thanks for your notes.

Wow, what can I say? That's about as perfect as it gets. The mood, the colors, the framing, everything is as it should be. Wonderful shot!
