Photographer's Note
This is the Maison des Ducs de Brabant (the House of the Dukes of Brabant) in Grand Place, Brussels. This house t is actually a group seven houses designed in 1698 by the architect Guillame de Bruyn but with a common front. The seven houses are called La Bourse (The Stock Exchange), La Colline (The Hill), Le Pot d'Etain (The Tin Pot), Le Moulin à Vent (The Windmill), La Fortune (The Fortune), L'Ermitage (The Hermitage) L'Ecrevisse (The Crayfish) and La Renommé (The Fame). It is called the House of the Dukes of Brabant because of the statues of dukes under the windows on the first floor of the building.
To the left of the Maison des Ducs de Brabant part of a number of guildhouses are seen. The house with a statue on the roof is the Maison des Tailleurs (House of the Tailors). The houses to the right of the Maison des Tailleurs are L'Ange (The Angel), Joseph et Anne (Joseph and Anne), from 1700, and Le Cerf (The Stag), from 1710.

Hej Ulf,
An interesting perspective where the architecture interacts very nicely with the sky. The statue to the left seems to be just as much part of the sky as of the building. The vertical lines of the façades (made diagonal by the perspective) automatically drag my eyes towards heaven. I am not sure if that was the intention of the architects, but they may have liked the idea.

Hello Ulf,
glad to see your photos again!
And you are brightening our screens with this brilliant photos of lovely Brussels. The light is really fine here and the colour of the façades contrast wonderfully with that of the sky. This is an original composition showing only the upper parts of the buildings (but I suppose you chose to do so to avoid the cars below...). any way it's a very informative photo and at the same time a graphic image.
TFS,
Donato

Hello Ulf,
Good light management.
The architectural details are shown very well with the golden colour contrasting nice with the sky.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Ulf!
A very interesting post, rich in information in the note!
In the picture, I like the gestion of the light, especially on the golds of the right building!
I also like the composition with the buildings forming a triangle for the interesting sky!
I see you make use of your many trips to Brussels to add to your culture and ours!
Thanks for sharing!
Kind regards!
Marie Louise.
