Photographer's Note

Appreciating artwork in the Musees d'Art Ancien et Moderne in central Brussels. The reception hall is light and spacious - the perfect setting for displaying large works of art.

This particular painting is Mars Disarmed by Venus and the Three Graces (1822-1824) by Jacques-Louis David. It is one of his last works, completed when he was in his seventies.

The museum allows photography but not flash or tripods. This picture was handheld without flash at 1/20s.
