evening red, a photo from West-Vlaanderen, Flanders

Photographer's Note

Evening red against the white houses of Damme. In front you can see the canal Bruges-Sluis (also called "damse vaart"), dug on order of Napoleon.
In the center the tower of the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk of Damme. It dates back to 1225!
I especially like the red glow on the typical white houses and the reflection in the water.

I did not do any changes to the colours; just cropped the image a bit (had to much sky at first).

Hope you like it. Next time I'll try to post something from another town (sorry, I just like my small little so much...).

lovely scene
the image ia a bit offside - rotated, that is - which is disturbing to the eye.
also cropping a bit from the bottom will make it less centered and more dramatic. but in general - nice job

Very good picturesque view using existing lighting conditions. Love the soft pink shades of light glowing on the houses. Very good reflection in the water. Nice and sharp. Well done, indeed.

Que de belle teintes douce ici avec un superbe reflet.
le contraste est très bon aussi.
L'image a une legere inclinaison vers la droite mais cela ne gache pas votre cliché.

When seeing trees like these I cannot help thinking about, what they would have looked like had they not been cut back repeatedly. It's a nice, calm early evening scene you've captured ;-)

Hendrik, het avondrood op de witte gevels geven een aparte en rustige sfeer, de weerspiegeling in de stille Damsevaart zijn geweldig, de compositie is goed. Laat ze maar komen uit deze hoek. Bedankt!

Typical nice image from that Europe area. Nice details and reflection. You should try to correct the geometry because the houses seem to be leaning to the right. It's a small detail but very important.

Très jolie composition très symétrique, les quatres arbres, la tour au milieu et le tout refleté dans l'eau. L'effet du soleil couchant au teint rouge sur les maisons blanches est très joli. Zeer mooie photo Hendrik.

Je suis passé à côté de cette très belle vue, un joli miroir aux belles et vieilles maisons.
Quand le soir tombant et que la lumière rose couvre comme un duvet la ville, je suis heureux.

Fantastic light effect here, Hendrik! The reddish colour of the sunset beautifies the whole composition and brings a lot of warmth into it. Wonderful capture!

Beautiful mood capture, I like the light and contrast and the color in the picture.

I do think the rotation on the pic. is correct, if I look at the top roof on the building and the chuch in the back it is ok.
The road is going a bit up hill, and made a bit tilt bottom, thats cheat the eye a bit, to say the photo is a bit tilt to right.

Beautiful reflextion, but a bit tight crop in the right side, I would have like a bit of air to the tree.

La composition symétrique, le format carré et le beffroi en plein milieu, c'est inhabituel et osé mais très réussi. En plus l'ambiance du soir et la couleur rouge ajoute beaucoup de charme à l'image.
