Dinant était, au Moyen Age, une des 'bonnes villes' du Principeauté de Liège. Elle était connue pour ses chaudronniers. Ville riche, située sur les rives de la Meuse et sur la voie romaine de Cologne à Bavais. Adolphe Sax, inventeur du saxophone est né ici.

Dinant was one of the 'Good Cities' belonging to the prine bishop of Liège and was renowned for its cuppersmiths. It was a rich city, situated along the Meuse river on the Roman road from Cologne to Bavais. Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the saxophone, was born here.

Bonjour John,
Très belle photo avec ces imposants bâtiments, qui font une sorte de "mimetisme" avec les rochers.
Composition très bien réussie.

Hi John,
Although a little on the dark side, the details are well seen and I very much like the large format. The church on the right nicely balances the frame. You controlled the exposure level well under difficult light conditions. Cheers.

j'adore ces petite villes moyenageuses, avec la rivière, la citadelle, l'église et les maisons anciennes qui forment une unité d'harmonie. j'avais visité Namur, mais je ne connaissais pas Dinant.

Hi John,
This picturesque town seems to be quite popular in TE, and for a good reason. The PoV is good, separating the cliff and church from each other. Could be cropped from bottom.

What dramatic landscape this is. we have the river bordered by buildings but then the huge cliff is topped with the castle. It's interesting how they have built the huge church on the right as if in competition. It's possibly a little on the dark side, but we can see all the details clearly.

Was für ein eindrucksvolles Stadtbild. Das ist wirklich eine Neuentdeckung für mich! Diese Felswand ist ja fast bedrohlich für die Häuser darunter. Ein interessantes Foto mit einem wunderschönen Himmel!

Un POV qui montre bien ce fameux rocher.

Dag John,

Dit is de plaats waar ik meest ben geweest Dinant, vind ik persoonlijk tof om te wandelen iets te eten en te drinken.
Uit deze hoek worden weinig foto's genomen en dit is werkelijk mooi, zal er aan denken bij mijn volgende bezoek.
Het is zeer mooi, ook al had u wat last van de zij zon, de Citadel en nog een kleine stukje van het gerechtsgouw is eveneens tezien.
Mooi werk John. Bedankt voor uw bezoek.

Dag John. Het is geleden van de lagere school dat ik nog eens in Dinant geweest ben (ja, het is een schande ik weet het). Daarom is het wellicht extra mooi om het nog eens door het oog van een ander te zien. Goed perspectief met het water op de voorgrond en de stad met de kerk op de achtergrond, dit allemaal overvleugeld door de citadel. In het kort gezegd: al het mooie van de stad in één beeld; goed gedaan!

Point de vue bien choisi qui permet d'apprécier la bonne luminosité rasante sur les maisons.

the composition, landscape is outstanding. definitely a perfect location for photography makes the viewer go there and watch this setting.the darkness of the river and pure white clouds, creates a strange but sweet atmosphere as well.
