Chapel of St Mary, a photo from Stredocesky, Bohemia

Photographer's Note

Jan Santini Aichel, one of the most famous Baroque architects working in Czechia, designed not only spectacular castles like Karlova Koruna. This small chapel of St Mary in Kourim was built in 1727 according his project too, even though it was four years after Santini's death.

Unfortunately, the photo does not show well a pentagonal ground-plan of the chapel -- quite typical for Santini, who liked uncommon and bizarre shapes.

very much different chapels as we use to see here in our country at several places. This learns us also something about the rest of the world : it's not only here that we find chapels.

That's a nice composition with great lighting. The colors are very fine and the use of the path in front of this chappel was wised. Nice work.
