Christian IV Chapel Roskilde, a photo from Roskilde, East

Photographer's Note

An abstract scene from within the Christian IV Chapel inside the Roskilde Cathedral. I have loaded the painting at bottom left as a workshop. It seems to have Swedish ships docked at top left. I tried an angled pov to reduce the glare at left. A quick search revealed that many photographers had the same problems with the harsh lighting on the left side of the painting, with just one example here.

Hi Chris
Interior shots are notoriously difficult to photograph because of low light or uneven highlights and shadows. You still managed very well - good idea to shoot at an angle to avoid the glare.
Lovely colours and good composition to include the two paintings.
The WS photo gives us a better idea regarding what the whole cathedral looks like.

Hello Chris,
Well taken photos from difficult angles in difficult light. The painting in the WS makes me curious. I wonder what the Swedish ships were doing there. Had they been captured in a battle, or did they visit Denmark during a temporarily peaceful period? An important peace treaty, where Denmark had to concede large territories, was signed in Roskilde cathedral in 1658, but by then Christian IV had already been dead for 10 years.

Hi Chris,
In Denmark, I have only visited Copenhagen, although twice, Hillerød and Helsingør. But I had always bad luck for the weather there and the longer trip I took with a cheap compact camera so the photos are rubbish.
This is a beautiful snapshot for this important Danish cathedral. I remember this one one of the most important tourist destinations in the country.
The vivid blue makes it so eye catching. Very elaborate decorations well captured here with great quality,

curious this protestant interior imitating a catholic one, but with different personages and mood. nice the mural in the WS that looks describing some historic event.

It is quite a challenge to take in such domes/ceilings that are full of wonderful decorations. I think you framed this one well. The blue is beautiful.
