Photographer's Note
"Gull 1 to tow..." - an air traffic controllers nightmare.
Look closely at this photo and count the seagulls in this near disaster in the air. At first I thought there were only two, but on closer inspection it turned out to be a bunch of 3 gulls, all wanting to occupy the same bit of airspace at the same time. I simply don't know how they managed to get out of this fix, by use of excellent flying skills, probably. At any rate, no gull fell down into the water, they all made it out of there safely and lived to find another piece of bread ;-))
I know this photo is not perfect. For one, only the bird nearest to the camera is entirely within the DOF range. Secondly, there are some hot spots on parts of the birds, and thirdly a combination of birds outside the DOF range and motion blur, which all combine to make this photo less than perfect. But for all that I think it compensates by being rather funny.
Treatment: Crop, contrast +10, saturation +10, USM and resize.

Bente, your nature studies are phenomenal. Each and every piece a work of art. Great motion showning on this one, even if a bit out of focus. You made a split second decision, and it was worth it. Well done.

Very amusing. I really like it. It is difficult to distinguishh the three gulls, but the colors are fine and there is a lot of action and movement. You have excellent reactions. The note is good too.

J'aime bien le commentaire plein d'humour.
Ce que j'aime c'est l'impression de vitesse qui ressort de cette image.
Par contre il est difficile à dire s'il y a trois mouettes.
Bien vu.

A really good self critque, spot on in all counts, but still a fine capture for all that these things happen so quick that usually its wings and tails that are missed, but here we see it all and the slight blurr adds to the sence of action / mayhem. nice one.

Great shot Bente. For me it's quite a perfect shot. The situation is not normal. You was here at the good time. The fact that the gull are a little fuzy give tot he picture the speed needed to show the instantaneous of the situation. This make it quite perfect.
Good job. BRAVO.

The only thing missing in your shot is their reason for being in that airspace at the same time. I suppose it must have been a piece of bread that the photographer threw? No, just kidding. Your nature shots are beautiful and I wouldn't accuse you of provoking near air disasters.

Unusual and smart seen moment.
I think I just can see the tail of the third seagull, nothing more..... well, it doesn't matter, because the shot is great anyways. I don't think that it is even possible to catch a moment like this and getting also a technically perfect image. Thanks for sharing this image
