I was considering dedicating to Richard after he’s comment to this photo –:-)) never mind. As the title suggest this photo about spinach – In fact all of the green in the strange looking field spinach.

This kind of fields can be seen several places on Fyn and the first time I saw one (2 years ago) was I very curious to learn about the dark stripes of green, so here’s what I learned.

I order to grow spinach for consume its important to have good quality seeds – This field consist of female and male spinach plants. The male plants are the dark green and when they have “done there job” are they simply destroyed – chopped down.
Finally the seeds are harvest with a normal harvest-machine.

I’m not an expert on this – so don’t ask me have they managed to split the seeds in female/male.
