Photographer's Note

Taken last spring. The sun was quite low as is the case here in the north in winter, but it was very warm because of the reflection of sunshine from the snow.

Taken against sun which is my favourite direction. It is hard to get the wide range of luminosity (over 10 to 12 EV) captured well with digital equipment. For most DSLR cameras it is mission impossible.

In this case I like the result.

Usually I use RAW but in this camera it is not possible so I used the inbuilt system to keep detail in dark areas. So this is from the original jpg.

Wonderful sky with beautiful light and colour. I love the depth you have captured across this vast frozen landscape as well as the detail of the grasses in the foreground. I think I may have been tempted to crop the image just below the grasses on the right side but otherwise a great atmospheric shot.
