Mont Saint-Michel (Saint Michael's Mount) is a rocky tidal island and a commune in Normandy, France. It is located approximately one kilometre (just over half a mile) off the country's north-western coast, at the mouth of the Couesnon River near Avranches. The population of the island is 41, as of 2006. The island has been a strategic point holding fortifications since ancient times, and since the 8th century AD it became the seat of the Saint-Michel monastery, from which it draws the name. The Mont-Saint-Michel and its bay are part of the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. More than 3,000,000 people visit it each year

wow, thats alot of visitors each year!
normally we don't compose our subjects in the middle of the frame like this, but it actually works out well in this photo.
I like the balance, and the lighting.

to miejsce dosc dobrze znane nie tylko we Francji. Nie bylem tam ale dzieki TE sporo ujec zobaczy³em (nazwa miejsca zaczyna sie "Le Mont...). Fajne ujecie w cieplym swietle no i z efektownym odbiciem w wodzie.

Hello Monika- you have chosen a superb image for your 50th posting- the light is just superb - combined with a great reflection- were you standing in the water?
This Island is stunning- there is a similar Island ( Not as glamorous) off the Cornish Coast - called St Michael Mount- which I love photographing.. keep posting Rich

Hello Monika,

A very interesting note and a beautiful photograph with which to illustrate it.

The low warm evening light has given this picture a wonderfully warm glow with some beautiful colours and contrasts. The reflections in the dark calm sea are stunning and I love the colours in the sky.

Excellent composition, fabulous colours, perfect exposure and stunning details and sharpness.

a classic sight on this beautiful place, at the low tide, in a composition with a centered framing and a good symmetry, which emphasizes the beauty of the Mont Saint Michel, under the warm and golden tones of the low light of the sunset. I love these reflections on the water.
The quality of the image and of the colors is very high, this photo is very attractive.

This is a fine post. We have seen hundreds of pictures of MsM, but I don't remember seeing this angle...rather seen most from further right. The warm glow of light on the fantastic mount looks brilliant! Excellent work indeed!
