Photographer's Note
On August 17th Fouquet hosted a famous gala to please the young king Louis XIV at Vaux-le-Vicomte. Technically the celebration was a success. However, the invited, which included the king himself, were not very pleased and were even furious as I mentioned last time. I have visited the château often in the past. There was always one question, which I haven’t found an answer to. When and how Fouquet discovered the political failure of that evening, and when he did, what sort of thoughts went through his mind? As I am someone who sympathises a great deal with Fouquet, these questions remain with me even today. Molière who performed “The unfortunates” is known to have left a famous quote “On August 17th at six in the evening Fouquet was the king of France: at two in the morning he was nobody” He must have been aware of the political failures he caused during that evening. And he might have stood at one of the windows of his new residence at Vaux and thought about his destiny, which would follow him as the most important event of his lifetime. What did he see and what did he think about himself by looking through one of many windows. He himself was not yet aware of the exact consequences, which followed him a few weeks later.

Bonjour Nobu ,

Bravo
Bonne soirée

Hi Nobu,
You have thoroughly studied the atmosphere of this castle and its history. You created a photograph nostaglique, and romantic too. The darkness of the room, highlighting the colors both soft and bright park. A beautiful image. Bravo.
Have a nice day

Hello dear Nobu,
I find the contrast between the peaceful view from this window and the turbulent thoughts that might have crossed Foquet's mind to be worthy of reflection. Although we can't be sure that he looked through this window that evening, if he did, he might have found the pristine look of the garden, with its natural green and autumn colors, soothing. Of course, the difference between the gloomy interior and the bright exterior might be analogous to his stormy mind and the beautiful events that preceded his despair.
With warm regards,
Lakshmi

Ciao Nobu

nice the landscape view through the window of the castle.I like the symmetry of the scene, the brilliant light of the gardens as the vivid colours of it.

ciao Nobu,
bel panorama incorniciato dalla finestra del palazzo con una bella e intensa colorazione del verde e della natura all'esterno.
Gioco di luce e ombra che fa risaltare l'immagine già dalla miniatura,

Hi Nobu
this photo is an important photo not a simple shot.
Here there is history, painting, politics. Also you have tried, I suppose, to render Fouquet's feeling using the saturation in a view that seems symmetrycal but it is not and it looks like a painting but it is not... Maybe like Fouquet that he must have thought that the evening would have been the best gala ever but it was not... :)
Great work!
Have a nice day

What a wonderful note, Nobu...and I am already transfixed by this view from Fouquet's window. Without thinking of the context, there is a certain jollity to the photo. Those amusingly repeated little trees, the row of newel posts along the bottom like a frieze, the cheerful autumn colors of the trees...but it is autumn, after all, and the winter of Fouquet's discontent is coming.
The gracefully decorated shutter to the right, in blue shadow, is a melancholy note.
So...at six in the evening he looked out of the window...

Hello dear Nobu-san
Exquisite! Apart from the nbeautiful frame within frame you've created, what I like are the details on the right, the finesse of the work seems to come through the light shade well. The view outside is beautiful with the autumnal hues on the trees & the topiary on the hedges.
Beautiful allegorical photo, as I read your notes! And I wonder, is it the same thought you presented here, with which you took this picture 8 years ago?
Best Regards Nobu-san & have a nice week ahead
