Photographer's Note
On September 5th 1661 at Vaux the château and its garden stood still. Fouquet was in Nante accompanying the young King Louis XIV (born Sept. 5, 1638, Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France, died Sept. 1, 1715, Versailles), king of France (1643-1715) while on duty. Towards noon of this day by the personal order of the king, Fouquet was suddenly arrested in Nante by a captain of the Musketeers, Charles d’Artagnan (1611-25 June 1673). The arrest was not made either at Vaux or Saint- Mandé. Fouquet had his secondary residence where he also held overwhelming popularity. As you might have noticed, September 5th is the birthday of the king himself. His display of hatred and his cruel attitude towards Fouquet can well be seen. Charles d’Artagnan was a very close and personal friend of Fouquet. And the king was also well aware of the fact. Subsequently Fouquet was brought back to Paris and was imprisoned at the Bastille during his trial, which lasted for three years. The night before the arrest of Fouquet d’Artagnan was seen crying, torn between his duty and his friendship towards Fouquet. During the course of his trial, the French public as well as many of his personal friends remained sympathetic with him. The popularity and compassion manifested towards Nicolas Fouquet has not tarnished to this day. Finally at the end of his trial, Fouquet was sentenced to exile, but the young king was still not satisfied by the outcome of the trial. He ordered to change the sentence to imprisonment for life.

Hello Nobu,
Another great effort. This one is also prominent with your own trademarks (masterful perspective and composition, immense depth, aggressive sharpness and great tonal quality). Here, I especially liked the luminous sparks on the water. Your story is impeccable as always, very extensive and informative. Thanks for sharing. Have a good evening.

Hello Dear Nobu,
This is an interesting and informative notes about the young king and his superintend of finances, Fouquet.I am not sure why the king developed hatred for young man Fouquet who had so much love for art and literature. The end result is the chateau is still there.
This is very picturesque inviting the viewer to look in all the direction . The nature is abundant with lovely grass promenade where one can take a walk enjoying the beautiful trees, the water and the fresh air. The colors are very natural and the view is spectacular. You must have enjoyed this quiet and charming place for hours.
With warm regards,
Lakshmi

hi nobu,
i love the sparkling effect from the sun's light on the water. it is nicely placed in the left hand third of the picture. the wall along the water side curves very nicely through the picture taking the viewer along too. the trees on either side are wonderfully coloured and their diagonal angled tops also lead towards the centre of the picture. a very well composed image.

Ah, je l'aime beaucoup! The inviting curve, the sharp focus of the light glittering on the water and of the trees on the right - contrasting with the somewhat hazy trees on the other side of the river, an atmospheric perspective effect. Shooting into the light, you've achieved a beautiful effect. Bravo, Nobu!
I am sure that Fouquet's spirit still wanders here...

Hi Nobu
Le POV est super bien choisi avec le chemin et la courbe du mur le long de l'eau, un ciel dramatique qui filtre une douce lumière et des reflets, j'aime les couleurs qui ressemble a une peinture,
Belle journée

Hello Nobu
Fantastic composition of pastel colors.
This is the true work of art, as if painted with a brush.
I really like this kind of work with this shimmer on the water.

ciao Nobu,
buona la resa dell'immagine in un controluce ben gestito.
I colori risultano ben saturi con il sole che rilette i suoi raggi sul bacino d'acqua,

Hello dear Nobu-san
A very deftly handled exposure, quite difficult as you were shooting towards the sun. The division between the cool tones of the water & the warm green of the grass separated by the wide curve is appealing. The sky is beautiful, especially the clouds & the glittering water reflecting the sun looks wonderful!
Best Regards Nobu-san & have a fine Sunday

Dear Nobu,
This is an inspiring shot with the sunlight shimmering in the water. The rich cerulean blue in the sky adds a Tiepolo-like effect. It is remarkable how you have achieved this quality from a scanned slide.
In revisiting your site and seeing this last photo you had posted in March, I realized once again that your are sorely missed at Trekearth, even by those of us who have limited our own involvement at the site. I hope it is not due to health problems that you have curtailed your activity.
Warmest regards, my friend.
