Photographer's Note

Hello friends, I went back to fetch another old photo from my vacation in Paris in 2004

The history of Versailles started in 1623, when Luis XIII ordered to construct to a pavilion of hunting and a small castle in rock and brick in the way of coutada, 23km the southwest of Paris. The king liked this small castle in such a way that decided to add it. When its son Luis XIV, knew the Castle in 1651, he had only 13 years, and after innumerable visits, he decided for the construction of the palace, that would come to happen from 1664. In 1669, arquitecto Louis Le Ford (1612-1670) was charged to transform a hunting pavilion, in the biggest palace of the Europe. The first task was to drain the enormous quagmires and to terraplanar lands in its redor. During these works, thousands of workers had died of fever and pneumonia.As paintings, tapestries, sculptures, and furniture had been executed by the best Italian artists and French of the time, of among which it is distinguished the gardener Andre Le Nôtre (1613-1700), painter Charles Le Brun (1619-1690) and the sculptors François Girardon (1628-1715), Antoine Coysevox (1640-1720) and Etienne Le Hongre (1628-1690) had produced hundreds of works for the palace and gardens.

Hello Goncalo - The topiary bushes are immaculate and one wonders how much work goes into keeping them so perfectly trimmed and shaped. Your shot shows them off in all their disciplined splendour. I know this garden in Versailles.
We where in 2008. This historical place is amazingly impressive and beautiful. You can spend hours and hours to admire this castle and amazing garden. Wonderful composition and beautiful framework. Awesome picture and work. I love it. I have same pictures from this historical place in my gallery. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Goncalo,

The length of the alley is giving depth to the composition. The sahpe of the trees has a graphical effect. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the trees. The afternoon light is making the colors to stand out. Have a nice day.

Good Morning Goncalo,

I wish my garden was so neat and tidy! Those bushes are perfect!
You have chosed a good pov with the receding line guiding and producing a sense pf perspective. After scrutiny, the second line draws the eyes down the whole length of the shot, again.
You have a good dof and the inclusion of the figures does give that important sense of scale.

Hello Goncalo.
The topiary of Versailles was easy to recognise, even from the thumbnail. You've made an excellent picture of this simple scene, thanks to the subtle angle of view and the beautiful sky. I also like the timing, which includes the people walking; this adds a sense of scale and life and motion to a static scene. Nice work.

Olá, amigo Gonçalo,
esta foto no parece tener más de 7 años de edad. En 2004 la fotografía digital todavía era una aventura, pero se podían tomar buenas fotos, a pesar de la baja resolución de aquellas pequeñas cámaras.
En esta toma podemos apreciar una alta calidad de imagen y unos colores naturales, en un encuadre con los elementos verdes de los jardines y un cielo y unas nubes fantásticos, que forman una bella composición.
Bonito trabajo de recuperación de tus viejos archivos.

Hello Goncalo,

You're capturing well this courtyard in Versailles palace by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see a row of pretty tree ornamented to cone shape. It's impressive that it is symmetrically arranged across the road, too. And, floating clouds in the blue sky draws out an additional good atmosphere in this image.

je hebt hier een hele mooie standpunt ingenomen
en gelijk ook de foto mooi verdeeld, want de
foto heeft een mooie diepte naar rechts toe, idem
een mooie lijnenspel die in lagen naar links
achteren toeloopt.
Ook opvallend is de prachtige lucht, die heel
goed in het geheel past.

Olá Gonçalo, acho que dois pontos são destaque na sua foto. Essas linhas em diagonal feitas pelos cones verdes e as faixas de areia. E esse lindo céu com nuvens a enfeitar a paisagem.
Acredito que o horário de 1 da tarde não tenha favorecido nos tons de verde, talvez pela manhã as cores ficassem mais intensas.

Olá Gonçalo,

uma foto já com alguns anos mas de muito bom gosto com toda esta sucessão de cones verdes a criar um impacto muito interessante na foto, assim como as suas linhas diagonais criam dinâmica ao mesmo tempo que nos "leva" o olhar até às pessoas enquadradas pelos cones.

Gosto ainda deste céu azul "ponteado" por algumas nuvens baixas muito engraçadas.

questa foto piace per la bella composizione che evidenzia la successione dei coni che si perdono verso l'infinito con le loro forme geometriche avendo come cappello un cielo azzurro movimentato da belle nuvole mentre il colore delicato del selciato riempe gli spazi vuoti.
Una foto che giustamente ha avuto successo.
