Versailles Flowers, a photo from Ile-de-France, North

Photographer's Note

Hello friends, I went back to fetch another old photo from my vacation in Paris in 2004

The history of Versailles started in 1623, when Luis XIII ordered to construct to a pavilion of hunting and a small castle in rock and brick in the way of coutada, 23km the southwest of Paris. The king liked this small castle in such a way that decided to add it. When its son Luis XIV, knew the Castle in 1651, he had only 13 years, and after innumerable visits, he decided for the construction of the palace, that would come to happen from 1664. In 1669, arquitecto Louis Le Ford (1612-1670) was charged to transform a hunting pavilion, in the biggest palace of the Europe. The first task was to drain the enormous quagmires and to terraplanar lands in its redor. During these works, thousands of workers had died of fever and pneumonia.As paintings, tapestries, sculptures, and furniture had been executed by the best Italian artists and French of the time, of among which it is distinguished the gardener Andre Le Nôtre (1613-1700), painter Charles Le Brun (1619-1690) and the sculptors François Girardon (1628-1715), Antoine Coysevox (1640-1720) and Etienne Le Hongre (1628-1690) had produced hundreds of works for the palace and gardens.

Anche trattandosi di una fotografia del 2004 si vede di già tutta la tua bravura nel comporre la scena, mettendo cioè in primo piano i fiori e sulla destra il muro per rendere più originale quella che poteva diventare una classica cartolina. Molto vividi i colori.

Beautiful photo of Versailles, I have been here twice but it was too early for the flowers. This is beautiful with good light and nice clear days with lovely sky and cloud. The enclusion of the flowers makes it really cheerful and makes me wish for spring already.

en este encuadre poco habitual captaste parcialmente la preciosa arquitectura del palacio de Versailles, pero también la belleza de las flores y de los jardines, cuyos colores aumentan la calidad de la imagen y la belleza del conjunto.
La composición es armónica, tiene un bonito equilibrio gráfico y una luz fantástica.

Ola Goncalo,

I see the line of trees that you posted earlier, helping to guide to the chateau and nicely balanced by the edge of the f/g tree.
The riot of colour really grabs attention and makes a beautiful link between the f/g and the b/g. You have a good dof which maintains the interest throughout.

You're capturing well this scene by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's impressive to see the palace of Versailles and the courtyard with various colorful flowers in bloom. This season seems to be good ones for visit. The whole is harmonized well by some elements.

we're going back to 2004! seems like a long time ago now :)
a beautifully bright and luminous photo.
looking at this, I'm wanting and missing the warm summer months.
the purples and yellows and blues all mix so well together.

Nearly 8 years old, yet the colour rendering is like it was taken yesterday. I like how the path leads the ye into the frame and the beautiful architecture of the palace. I would perhaps have moved a little to the left and cropped out the tree, obtaining more of the palace, but this is a question of preference and composition.

I just cannot resist but comment on this shot as it brought back nice memories when I visited this place many years back.
Firstly, I find this pov and your composition very extraordinary. The jig-jag pattern formed by the perspective path leading to the palace and part of the dark tree to the right created a very lively and interesting visual sensation. The colourful flowers is the icing on the cake making this shot really worthy for such a famous and beautiful place. Brilliant shot indeed!!!

Ola Gonçalo,
Me gusta mucho esta composiciòn inhabitual del palacio de Versailles.
Aquì, los macizos de flores parecen màs importantes que el palacio. Pero, al mismo tiempo, destacan la belleza del edificio, y hacen un equilibrìo con las lineas rectas.
Buena idea esta linea diagonal del camino nitido en la izquierda, y la parte principal de la foto en la derecha.
