The almond trees flower in the vineyards of Hérault.

The almond tree, symbol of virginity, is one of the first fruit trees to flower at the end of the winter.
Its flowers, of a rosy white, appear before the sheets.
The almond is delicious, but the bitter almond, fruit of the wild almond tree, is toxic with certain amount, and can even be mortal, because it contains hydrocyanic acid.

_ The almond tree inspired a roguish song to George Brassens. (Born in Sète, Hérault, 22 October 1921, died in Saint-Gély-du-Fesc, Hérault, October 29, 1981)
