Votive festival, traditional festival

Saint-Jean-of-Buèges is a French commune, located in the department of Herault and the Languedoc-Roussillon area. Its inhabitants are called Saint-Jeannais.

"Saint-Jean-de-Buèges", authentic medieval village nested in a valley, dominated by the solid mass of "Séranne" has appeared in the history well before its castle. The "Château de Baulx" is dated from XIIème century. With bottom of valley, the abundant vegetation contrasts with the mountain arride which reaches 900 m with the "Roc Blanc". the village made up of generally high and piled up old houses, is bored narrow small squares, lanes or alleys in staircases, where often intense estival heat hesitates to penetrate. The "Buèges" small limpid river, resulting from a karstic resurgence near brings in summer the freshness and the decoration of an oasis, before going to throw itself in the hérault after some kilométres of semi course on the surface semi underground. After having lived mainly of the breeding of the worms with silk, the village with sudden the rural migration. Much of its houses became residences of holidays. Vines and olive groves make live the inhabitants of the vintage. The tourist activity constitutes a seasonal contribution. No one surge of mass. It is the field of the amateurs of nature, uneven and beautiful images.
