Photographer's Note

This is a pano of Viaduct Millau in the south of France, taken from a viewing platform some 3km to the east of the bridge. Click on the picture for the large version. Click on the link at the bottom of the post for the exact location. See the workshop for a picture of the platform itself.

This was taken at 723m high from a mountain near a town called Brunas that is situated to the south of Millau. You can get here by taking a road called Chemin de Brunas. This road is really, *REALLY* steep and contains 5 hairpin corners. I was there at 9am or so and there were no other cars. I did see a couple of cyclists and a runner. My car had a little trouble going up so respect to these athletes!

I think this is also an excellent spot to photograph the bridge at night but unfortunately I didn't have the time to stay the night. I hope to get back for a night shot soon.

Looking at the structure from there you can see how incredible it is! They could have thought of different solutions to get traffic to the other side but they build this. I respect the French for this. You can also clearly see that the second and third pillar from the right are the tallest. Also notice the huge wind turbines in the back!
