Photographer's Note
Nearby Colorado of Provence, in vicinity of town of Rustrel, there are few remnants of past mining activities. There I found this steel part of some forgotten machinery in front of an ochre wall soon to be engulfed with ivy. With sun hidden behind clouds, everything had just the right mood and tone and all objects in this view as if wanted to compress all my impressions from Provence into this single sight: infinite scale of ochres (making immediate association with famous painters), breathtaking archaeological and architectural landmarks and last but not least, beautiful nature.
PS: as I have read here it is an old water pump.

I love this kind of subject . So evocative anf nostalgic . A beautiful capture here , with an excellent framing , and a soft light that convinced to show us the textures and tonalities of old wall and rusty elements .

Hi Adrian,
A very good study of the dead machinery parts, combined with the green vegetation above. All colours are in a pleasant harmony and the composition is nicely balanced.
Kind regards
Gunnar

Hello Adrian,
This is a very pleasant photo and a good composition. I have no idea what this machine was intended for, but its shapes and rusty parts have the beauty of an old piece of art and it goes very well along with the cracked plaster and the old bricks. The ivy covering part of the wall is a fine part of the composition and the various tones of ochre and light green are very beautiful. This is like a memorial to times long past.
Regards,
Gert
