Photographer's Note

Pointe du Raz - a rocky promontory in France, in Brittany on the Atlantic Ocean. This is the list of four Great places of France. It is one of the most westernmost point on mainland France. Often considered the French equivalent of the English Land's End

Pointe du Raz is the Land’s End of France. Thankfully it is less commercial than England’s, but it is certainly not isolated. Uniformly sized white holiday cottages dot the landscape and a large café and enormous museum lie at road’s end. If you can ignore the commercialism, you will find the views across the windswept headlands spectacular. This journey is not recommended in the height of summer when roads are congested.

The name comes from the Breton word "Raz", meaning the fast current.

Hello Monika,

A very nice capture of this promontory and a nice view of the lighthouse from the rocks. Nice soft colors and specially the color contrast between the rocks and the water. It looks very quiet now. I wonder what happens when the winds are strong and the waves come crashing . Thanks for sharing this fabulous image from Brittany.

Good presentation of the Bretan coast. Very strong nature, fine vertical composition with the lighthouse on the BG.

Hello Monika,

Nice to see you back again!

This is quite a bleak ladscape/seascape with quite an angry sea and mist hanging over the horizon - perhaps an approaching storm?

But the lighting is lovely and soft and the colours beautiful - I think I see some of your lovely pink granite here too!

Perfect exposure and excellent detail and sharpness. The addition of the two walkers adds some human interest.

I enjoy the bleakness of this rocky headland. The colours look natural and the level of sharpness is perfect. Well done for including the figures on the rocky path. A wild shoreline beautifully captured.

A quite dramatic atmosphere fro this view of one of the most iconic place in Brittany . The composition is perfect , and I like especially the two walkers in the FG .

It's a place I well know... I was born in Brittany.
Happy you chose to spent time in my region I like so much. Hope you had a good time there.
It's a composition in my tastes. The human presence gives the scale and gives also an emotional value.

A very impressive scenery! Love the portrait format in here, gives us a fulfilling view of this wonderful coastal landscape. Excellent exposition considering the conditions, nonetheless, it gives us a nice feel and a dramatic effect. The inclusion of 2 guys in the scene is also nice! Great work, great capture!
