Photographer's Note

"Le château de Montbrun est un château fort des XIIe et XVe siècles, situé sur la commune de Dournazac en Haute-Vienne.
Le site est occupé dès le XIe siècle, comme en témoigne la haute motte castrale située à proximité immédiate de l'actuel château.
En 1199, le seigneur de Montbrun, Pierre Brun1, dirigeait avec le chevalier Pierre Basile la garnison de Châlus lors du siège au cours duquel Richard Coeur de Lion trouve la mort.

Au XIIe siècle, un château de pierre, dont subsiste le donjon de style roman, est construit. Ce château est incendié, et presque entièrement reconstruit, au XVe siècle. Saccagé et pillé à la Révolution il est restauré au XIXe siècle. Il subit un nouvel incendie en 1917 et est ensuite entièrement restauré2.

Depuis le fin du XXe siècle siècle, le château est entièrement restauré et habité par M. Maarten Joost Lamers, originaire des Pays-Bas."

The fg ferns both lit at left & unlit at right, add depth & layering. Superb symmetrical reflections with punchy light contrasts & splendid color saturation. Good graphism of the red tinted castle against the blue sky. Tfs!

Wonderful architectural and interesting historical castle under blue sky with nice white clouds at the side of water and very nice reflection of this beautiful buildings in water. Hello Adrian,
this is a beautiful photo carefully and exquisitely composed in every detail. The château looks lovely, imposing and calm in the wonderful sunny day and in the beautiful surrounding area. Skillful light management gave a remarkable result. Colours are bright, deep and vivid and the reflections stunningly lustrous. I like the inclusion of the brightly lit fern on the lower left corner. Vous avez pris ce magnifique château sous un angle attractive. Les reflets dans l'eau sont vraiment très clairs et ils ont de belles couleurs. L'image est joliment encadrée des fougères au premier plan.

All these castles have beautiful architecture. Beautiful green lush surrounding the castle with blue sky creates a very nice atmosphere. The reflections are clear showing every detail in the water. The image is well lit with colors, sharpness and depth.
