Photographer's Note

Certains , comme notre ami Nicou , aiment les brumes . D'autres , comme moi , aiment les ciels tourmentés .
Alors , je ne pouvais pas laisser passer ces formidables nuages de grain orageux , illuminés par la lumière du soir . Mais étant au travail , je ne pouvais pas chercher le meilleur des points de vue . Juste le temps de sortir l'appareil de la poche ...
En ce moment , le temps est particulièrement perturbé en Bretagne . Du vent , et beaucoup de pluie .

Absolutely superb, this backlit cloud formation that has the added benefit of drawing the viewer into the scene. The image is well composed and lovely warm colours and excellent clarity. Fine work.

Ca valait le coup d'avoir l'appareil sous la main. Ce type de lumière est souvent passager.
Une très belle vue portuaire. Ca s'équilibre vraiment entre la tour et la boule de nuage.

Hello Denis - I see you have tamed the beast! A fine shot, beautiful light and a magnificent array of colours and detail. The cloud is very well exposed which can be tricky. Pour un ciel tourmenté c'en est un et ta capture témoigne bien de cette force des éléments comme on dit.
Beau et bon travail puisque tu étais au travail dis tu.
Attention aux jaloux qui n'ont pas ce type de vue rivés à leur bureau ou leur établi .....
Cette tour moderne peut être un phare prend bien la lumière et casse heureusement la simple répétition des mats.
Du vent et de la pluie en Bretagne, Ah bon !

Fantastique! Ces nuages sont magnifiques, les couleurs et l'éclairage le sont également. J'aime aussi beaucoup le point de vue, pas besoin de chercher un autre :) Avec un ciel pareil c'est peut-être plus prudent de laisser son bateau amarré...

Ta fenêtre de bureau donne sur un beau port bien mis en évidence avec le grand phare blanc, qui fait concurrence à ce cumulus impressionnant. ça a dû souffler!

Bonjour Denis,

I agree with you entirely - an interesting sky really makes a photograph. And you have caught a very spectacular and troubled sky here. Not only is there a huge cloud swirling above the harbour, but the low-angle evening light illuminates the cloud against its dark surroundings.

The lighthouse is similarly and beautifully lit as also are the boats, all standing out against a dark and inky sea.

Wonderful light and contrasts, vibrant colours, perfect exposure and, as always, exquisite sharpness and detail.

A rare visitor of late, I cannot pass by this cloud without comment ! I am very much in the latter group in your note, big clouds do it for me !
You have caught a fine moment, even rushed as you were with only pocket camera to hand, but nevertheless some lovely low light gives the scene great charm, and of course your cloud/s add great majesty.

It has been a while since I've enjoyed your album. The colours here in the soft light are beautiful, showing off the many great vessels in this marina. The central feature of the lighthouse gives grounding and a focal point to complete the composition. Great effort.

Ahh fantastic lighting here, the golden tones are incandescent. I love the effect on the masts of the boats. And to top it off, the sky is so dramatic and the clouds beautifully composed. Thanks for sharing.
