Photographer's Note
At 200 meters from the Sacred Heart, we are at the heart of the unexpected vineyard of Clos Montmartre.
Clos Montmartre refers to the 2000m² vines planted at the corner of rue des Saules and rue St. Vincent. It faces the Lapin Agile, one of the most famous cabarets of Paris. Whereas its position in the middle of the French capital is quite incongruous, this parcel is cultivated. The harvest is conducted annually by the gardeners of the city of Paris. The grapes are pressed in the basement of the Town Hall of the eighteenth arrondissement.
The profits from the auction sale of the wine are donated to social welfare of the Butte Montmartre.
