Photographer's Note
From the top of the Chassiron lighthouse, at the end of the Ile d'Oléron, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean ... and at low tide you can also see fish locks. Explanation.
It is a fishing technique used since the Middle Ages. Low walls of stones and corals are arranged, we see them here, it is these lines and these curves and in these basins the fish that come to get lost during high tide remain trapped there at low tide. The water is then emptied through locks that the fishermen open.
In WS, see a fish lock but on the ground.

Bonjour Jean
The cottage with its rust red roof in the bottom right corner provides a strong focal point and contrasts well with the blue sea and sky. A good elevated vantage point with impeccable sharpness. Tfs!

Bonjour Jean,
we were guessing that this lighthouse offers a stunning view but in addition to being beautiful it seems so interesting as well. I have never heard about this type of fishing but now hearing it -of course it makes a perfect sense.
Great multi layered composition here.
Excellent work,

Hello Jean,
You give us an interesting explanation of this old fishing technique. Furthermore those low walls and the ponds of remaining water at low tide create a very nice abstract pattern. In the foreground we get a fine view of the white cottage and surrounding small fields. The photo is well balanced and there are fine contrasts between blue and brown tone.

Gert

Bonjour Jean,
La distance entre la maison et l'horizon donne de la profondeur à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des écluses à poissons. La qualité de la lumière embellit les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hi Jean
Your narratives help one's appreciation of this capture. We can clearly view the separation of elements and texture, so much vivid detail and contrasting colour to distinguish this. Great too that you have included the building to hook the eye in. Contrast of golden sand to blue water and sky is awesome. Congrats
Best regards

Hello Jean,
This is a very clever way of safely catching fish! I was fascinated to see in the w/s, how it is constructed!
It reminded me of the salt pans that I saw in Guerande Salt Marshes.
You have composed your photograph well, the focal building strongly placed with natural guides to the sea.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Bonjour Jean,

Hello Jean,
A beautiful view of this coastline. I like the yellowish land in the foreground and the blue sea in the distance with the mixed part in the middle. The house is well included as well and the light was great.

Bonjour Jean, I had never heard about this form of catching fish before, very interesting.
The w/s picture is a good addition to aid our understanding.
The point of view here enables us to see the various areas where the fish will be trapped. The cottage and the lane complete the composition.
Kind regards, Jean.

Its a stunning view. I like the contrast between the yellow of the fg. and the deep blue of the bg. The house and the tiny route is placed just in the right place.
