ridesmaids or fairy chimney
these rocks capped with large stones are a known erosion phenomenon; on this site it is a sedimentary layer of fluvio-glacial origin which forms these columns surmounted by a rock cap more resistant to erosion.
the legend says that it was the young girls of the villages who were petrified because they danced too late in the night until the next day which was Lent.... the site is called the ballroom of the capped young ladies!

Salut Christine,
Superbe paysage étonnant avec cet effet de l'érosion et ce résultat avec ces "demoiselles coiffées" de ... pierre ! Belle lumière, un bon angle pour mettre en valeur ce paysage.

Hello Christine,
Happy for the girls formerly, legendes are sometimes fairy tale.
You play excellent with light and shadows.
This cares for lovely contrasts.
Composition and presentation are used on an excellent way.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,
John

Hello Christine, what a strange phenomenon, I have never seen anything like this before.
The story is an interesting way to describe the columns and their caps.
I like the inclusion of the trees in the background.
Kind regards, Jean.
