Photographer's Note

I took this picture today at about 3:45pm. It is the second day in a row that we have had beautiful sunny weather so I waited until the sun was just right to try to take some pictures of the reflections of the stainglass window in the cat's house. Unfortunately as the cat is very wild and ferocious I couldn't get him to leave his house. So I chose to work around him and try not to get attacked. I realize that pets are not usually permitted as subjects of trek earth photos, however, the cat is not the subject here, the light is. I also went back as soon as he left and tried to take more shots but the light had changed and there were no longer the long bands of color.

As far as a cat having a house with a stainglass window, it is true. Except the glass isn't glass it is clear transparent film used for food storage. His house is made from a cardboard box and I stretched the film over an opening where the 2 top flaps meet to form the roof. Then I used permanant markers to color the stainglass design. He loves his house because he is the only one that can get in there and was not happy to see my poking my camera inside.

I didn't want to use the flash so I put the camera and head through the front door and leaned it on the window ledge to prevent the camera from moving. No postprocessing was done to the photo.

Oh and the little ripped piece of paper is actually part of the cardboard walls that he uses to sharpen his claws.
