Photographer's Note

After posting several photos of the typical Plougastel costume, I also had to post a picture of these famous strawberries. SIVI-RUZ means RED STRAWBERRIES in Breton.
One day, I shall post a snap of a traditional stawberry field, where the fruit is picked kneeling down ( very hard on the knees. )
But nowadays, stawberries are often cultivated in turf at arm's height, under plastic tunnels, so it's a lot easier to pick, and one doesn't have to suffer the bad weather, when it happens.
These particular strawberries are called "gariguettes "and are renowned for their sweet taste. They last from about March to the beginning of June. Then, we move on to other varieties, which have a better taste if grown in the earth.
If you come to Plougastel, go and buy your strawberries on site (The tourism bureau gives addresses.) It's a very fragile fruit, and in shops, it has lost its freshness.

I made a WS in 2013 with Corel Paintshop pro.
