*** Cliffs ***, a photo from Haute-Normandie, North

Photographer's Note

Étretat is best known for its cliffs, including a famous natural arch. These cliffs attracted artists including Eugène Boudin, Gustave Courbet and Claude Monet.

Three famous arches are the Porte d'Aval, the Porte d'Amont and The Manneporte. We choose for our picture the cliff on de north site of Etretat. You can walk from the village to the top of it and there you have a spectaculair view. (you can also go by car.

We like the contrast of colours in Etretat with his greens, whites en blues. We tryd to catch it on this photo.

Belle image, comme tant d'autres dans ta galerie que découvre aujourd'hui.
Seul petit reproche pour celle-ci, j'aurais cagré un poil plus bas, pour avoir un peu plus de plage et un peu moins de ciel.
Sinon, super !

Hi, Kik,

This is a most impressive scene. I'm astonished by the sharp line dividing the vertical cliffs and the vegetation, which itself appears to be well groomed by man, rather than natural. It all seems rather unreal.

Your photo is well composed, with a strong gentle arc separating the positive from the negative space. You made a good choice to include just a sliver of the ground surface, which provides us perspective and context without distracting from the main image. Especially, the person with the black jacket on the left provides a great exclamation point to the scale of the image!

The colors are strongly saturated (some of the greens appear a bit underexposed on my screen).
