In Warnemunde, on the Baltic Sea, the ship docked right in a charming tourist area where a carnival atmosphere prevailed. Since this was Boat Week, there were sailboats everwhere. They darted in front of huge freighters, and barely managed to remain upright in the gusty winds. I was particularly interested in this hand-operated draw bridge over the ‘Old River.” A harbor tour revealed the port as toward the town of Rostock was very industrial. The harbor is located in the mouth of the Warnow River
