The Gendarmenmarkt is a square in Berlin, and the site of the Konzerthaus and the French and German Cathedrals. The centre of the Gendarmenmarkt is crowned by a statue of Germany's poet Friedrich Schiller.

Hello Silvio,
Fine capture of this impressive square. I like the point of view and the juxtaposition between the two classically styled buildings. Also, the summery animated atmosphere. The image is very well lit and has excellent colours and clarity. Superb rendering of the architectural detail.

Un superbe dôme que je ne connaissais pas. Un édifice très allongé comme un long cou. J'aime l'animation sur la place et la très belle lumière malgré les nuages gris en arrière plan.

di tanto in tanto, a sorpresa, ci propone qualche foto scattata all'estero, ma la qualità è sempre ottima ed i soggetti sono tutti di grande interesse. Ottima questa Berlino in verisone monumentale con un bel POV e tanta nitidezza che si integra a perfezione con una bella composizione.

The architectural group portrait you have produced in Berlin is sharp and well defined. The clouds provide a dramatic backdrop to the buildings, specially for the dome in this early summer shot from 2009.

l'hai tenuta in cantina per un bel po', forse un po' troppo, ma le cose belle non hanno tempo e questa è una bella foto, uno spaccato di Berlino molto incisivo e ben composto, è un piacere vedere tutta questa gente che passeggia.

Hello Silvio,

It's amazing how the ancient Greco-Roman architecture of 2,000 years ago and more is repeated in nearly every contemporary Western city in the world, and even a few Eastern cities too! They do look stylish and elegant compared to the featureless and boring rectangular grid patterns of a lot of modern architecture. The crowds add scale and the angled view at left complements the 'front on' view at the back. Tfs!

Attractive scene of the Berlin Platz with the Gendarmenmarkt dome building central and the side view of the Romanesque temple like government building on the left.
Looks like a fine place for a stroll to soak in the history.

Never been to Berlin, Silvio, but I am attracted to the multitude of architecture's and many monuments in town.

funny thing I have also decided to come back to my old photos I took in Berlin/Potsdam. I had a pretty bad weather over there. I like very much your classic composition here. You show this spectacular square in all its beauty. This may be my favourite spot in Berlin. You captured it with a great sky in the background which makes it even more attractive.
