Photographer's Note

ABOUT THE TITLE
I could first afford a bit better camera in 2001. Living in Munich, a city with marvellous architecture which is perfectly lit in darkness I was right away attracted to night photography. It was however much later that I realized that something like BLUE HOUR actually exists. This was meant to be one of my night walks through the town, yet accidentally few first photos happened to be in the blue hour. I have presented already on TE another archival photo taken in Boston two years later when I started to understand the meaning of this special timing.

STORY BEHIND THE PHOTO
I have been recently in Munich but the day was foggy and I did not manage to capture anything what I would be proud of. So I decided to come back to my archives. I have lived in Munich for about 4 years but most of the time I was focused very much on my work and I don’t have this wonderful city as much photographed as I would like to.
This is a scan from negative.

WHAT YOU SEE
In the photo you see Siegestor (Triumphal Arch) (1852). The street behind the arch is called Ludwigstrasse, and that part of the town: Maxvorstadt.
The white towers under the arch belong to the St. Ludwig Church.
