Cologne´s central station
was built in 1859.
The big greenhouse-like roof was erected
1890 by Johann Jacobsthal.
It is 255 m long, 92 m wide
and 30 m high at the highest point.
Appr. 1200 trains and more than 200000
visitors pass through the station every day.

I took the train in this station last year. I had the impression it was big but not so big and not so beautifull.

My memories regarding this station aren't so good. 30 years ago, during my time in the services, I had often just 2 or 3 minutes to change the train which was often some platforms away. Sometimes I caught the wrong train... I had never tought that there was such a great piece of architecture above me.
