Photographer's Note
This is castle Gimborn, situated about 40 kilometres east of Cologne in a region called Bergisches Land. It is a former moated castle and it situated in a really very remote valley of the upper Leppe river in the municipality of Marienheide. It was pledged in 1273 from county Berg to the county Mark and in 1631 a residence in the county Gimborn-Neustadt of the House of Schwarzenberg. Since 1874 the complex has been in the possession the barons of „Schwarzenberg zu Gimborn„.
Since 1969 the castle serves as a conference site and meeting place for the International Police Association wich about 300000 members and sections in 61 countries.
Once a year the castle opens its doors to the Schützenfest (marksmen festival) of the Gimborn Saint Sebastianus Schützenverein (shooting club) - in German villages often the most important event of the year.
Nearby there is the castle's church (you can see it left hand in background) and a cozy little hotel.
I seldom have seen a castle of these dimensions in such a secluded valley...
In workshop you can see the castle from the other side.

Guten Morgen Frank,
ein sehr beeindruckendes Gebäude und eine scheinbar gut abgeschirmte Lage, übrigens ein schönes Foto noch dazu..
viele Grüße unter einem z.Zt. strahlend blauen Himmel,

An impressive "good-looking" castle. Detailed note, as well.
But what about thin white line on the top? I know, I know...
Regards my dear friend.

Bonjour mon Ami Frank,

Frank,
Nice shot of this fine architecture. The scene is framed nicely by the trees which also add contrast to the stones. The colors are great even under less than perfect light conditions. The photo is sharp and clear with excellent details.

Hello Frank,
A somehow homely looking castle with some beautiful stonework. The grass in the foreground looks fresh and natural and makes an interesting contrast with the architecture. Very good light and excellent sharpness.

Hi Frank,
A very unique and interesting building, very impressive! This is also very good picture, but I can´t help a feeling of an outward tilt. Maybe that is also what "chinchini" has already told you, but I don´t read French too well;( Anyway, I tried a WS with the excellent software PhotoFiltre Studio. There is a feature called Perspective correction. It works very good and I was impressed with the result, so I decided to upload it, I hope you don´t mind. I left the white line at the top...
Kind regards
Gunnar

Hi Frank,
thank You for your kind comments.
Since my this year trip to Europe (Austria,Germany,Switzeland) I became (always was) an even bigger fan of castles in these countries : it is beautiful architecture,it is centuries of history, it is wonderful place to visit and remember. I do not know how I missed this one of yours, but I like it very much : view, details, colors and your notes are superb.
One more in my collection :-)
Thank You for presenting this beauty!
Cheers,
