Fog and frost, a photo from Nordrhein-Westfalen, West

Photographer's Note

This photo was taken last Friday in the tiny village Großenbach, situated on the ridge of the low mountain range Rothaargebirge in an altitude of about 620 metres.

Temperature up there was about -3°C and beginning in an altitude of about 500 metres the mountain ridge extended into the high fog.

Nearly everything was covered with hoarfrost and there was an incredible deep silence in the landscape ...

By the way, this is a colour photo ... ;-)

In workshop you can see another house of this mountain village that day.

In map view I put the marker at the house which you can perceive left hand in the fog.

Une belle image hivernal, un temps pas très engageant mais celà n'a pas l'air de rebuter ce promeneur ni toi d'ailleurs puisque tu nous proposes cette jolie photo réfrégirante.

Brrrrrr, I can feel the
cold- it's seeping out of the image. Nevertheless, I do like this scene and as you indicate the silence is also palpable as everything around the men is burdened by the frost. It is a fine tribute to one of nature's many facets. Greetings from a cold and wet Melbourne in Summer! Klaudio.

Juten morgen Frank,
Heute fast 15 Haeuserblocks entfernt. Das hat natuerlich seine guten Gruende. Sohnemann und dessen Frau sind gestern Abend zureuck aus Amerika. Auch die Madame kam nach Hause. Na ja.. die letzte Nacht war halt bischen laenger !!!
Auch diesen kenne ich schon und istg beneidenswert. Wohl nicht dem der ss erlebt hat, aber dem Zuschauer in seiner warmen Wohnung ! Auch hier stimmt alles bestens. Man kann nur noch auf den Reiter warten, der irgendwo aus dem Nebel hergeritten kommen wird ! (Du siehts ich bin noch immer beim Duden; Kapitel :"Deutsche Sagen und Maerchen" !

Frank,
This scene screams solitude with the fog, hoarfrost and the solitary man with his cane. I would imagine he feels like the only person in the world as this point. Your composition is outstanding using the road to lead the eye through the shot while the overhanging tree provides excellent framing and depth. The haunting view of the house on the left is a definite plus for the shot.

une prmonenade qans doute très vivifiante car de ce quez je vois de la photo, effectivement, il fait froid et brumeux. pas facile de rendre aussi bien ces condition très spéciales, la prouesse ici, c'est que tu y es arrivé.
La photo est de plus très bien cadrée.
